Moonstone
Intuition, new beginnings
What is Moonstone?
Moonstone is a feldspar whose layered structure scatters light into adularescence — a soft blue-white glow that seems to float beneath the surface, like moonlight through cloud. The finest material comes from Sri Lanka and India.
Meaning & symbolism
The stone of intuition and new beginnings, moonstone is tied to cycles — of the moon, of life chapters, of creative work. It is a traditional gift for new mothers, new ventures, and June birthdays.
How to wear & pair it
Moonstone loves company: amethyst and aquamarine for a celestial palette, or labradorite for a two-feldspar shimmer. Its glow reads best on 8–10mm beads.
Care
Softer than quartz (6–6.5 Mohs), so store it separately from harder beads and clean gently with a damp cloth.

Frequently asked
Why does moonstone glow?
Thin alternating layers inside the feldspar scatter light — an effect called adularescence. Rock the bead under light and the glow drifts across it.
Is moonstone a birthstone?
Yes — it is one of June's birthstones, alongside pearl, which makes the two a meaningful pairing in one bracelet.
