What is Obsidian?

Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed when lava cools too quickly for crystals to grow. Civilizations from the Aztecs to ancient Anatolia knapped it into blades and mirrors; polished into beads it is a deep, liquid black.

Meaning & symbolism

Obsidian is the boundary stone: protection, release, and honest self-reflection. It is worn during endings and clean breaks — the symbolic bodyguard of the crystal world.

How to wear & pair it

A full black strand is minimal and modern; mixed with clear quartz it becomes a bold yin-yang statement. 10–12mm beads give it real presence.

Care

True glass, so it can chip on hard impact — remove it for gym sessions. Otherwise a soft cloth keeps it mirror-bright.

Who tends to choose obsidian?

People marking a fresh start, letting go of something, or who simply want a protective black stone with history behind it.
